And scores of members gave their lives in order to do so.īut after World War II, the Red Orchestra’s efforts were distorted by history. The people who joined this secret resistance group - artists, journalists, and government officials - were all determined to take Hitler down. When the Nazis began rising to power in the 1930s, many Germans did not try to stop them.
